What standards does your food meet?

Our products have been independently tested by Massey University to meet and exceed the Standards set out by A.A.F.C.O [ Association of American Feed Control Officials]

My dog is itchy- can you help?

There are 2 main causes for itchy dogs, 1- Food allergies/ sensitivities and 2- Environmental/ Grass allergies.

Grass allergies are normally defined by red bellies/ armpits, itchy feet, more seasonal reactions, although not limited to. If your dog has grass allergies these few tips will help them

  • Keep them off of fresh cut grass
  • Keep them off of wet grass [rain and morning frost]
  • Keep them out of long grass
  • Wipe them down with a damp cloth after being in any of the above
  • Feed them a good quality clean diet to aid them from the inside out in dealing with irritation. Any of our Northland Petfood Range would be recommended for this.

Food sensitivities can display in any of the following symptoms, a sensitive tummy,  gassy, bloated, itchy, dry skin, weeping wounds/smelly etc. If you suspect a food allergy and are not sure what they are allergic to we recommend starting them off on our most sensitive range the Fish & Potato. ** Although sensitive our Fish options are very rich and need to be introduced gradually. Refer to the FAQ- How do I change my dog to your food? This has almost all of the allergy causing ingredients removed and will get your dogs tummy back on track. This gives them the boost they need nutritionally to combat the inflammation and aggravation caused by the allergies. This food heals them from the inside out improving all of the above symptoms and getting them back on track. Results in some cases can be instant in regards to incessant scratching, depending on their allergy.

In the case of unknown allergies this is also the recommended product to start them on as it has no chicken, red meat, grain, artificial colours/flavours or preservatives. Keep them on the diet for a month you can then re introduce foods back to them one at a time so as to work out what they are allergic to. So for example week 5 you could offer them lamb as an extra for the week. If there are no changes, the week after add chicken etc etc. You may end up finding they are allergic to wheat [ the most common allergy] and in that case you could change them to our everyday range the Adult Full Maintenance. It is more cost effective and still more gentle than most of what else is on the market.

Please feel free to ask us about this in more detail if required.

Are all of the different options gentle/ sensitive?

All of our range is gentle on your dogs, we don't have any chemicals or nasties that  are more likely to upset tummies.
